Marilyn Rose Vucovich
May 5, 1924 - February 4, 2010

Marilyn Rose Vucovich, 85 years young and of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully February 4th, 2010 at her son and daughter-in-law’s home.

Marilyn was born May 5th, 1924 in Lima, Ohio to Gale Alfred Knipp and Ruth Irene Roush Knipp. She graduated high school from Lima Central in 1942 in Lima, Ohio.

After traveling to various areas in the U.S. pursuing her love of dance and ballet, she “settled down” to marry her high school sweet heart, Nicholas Vucovich, on November 27, 1946. Some of her fondest memories were of their times in Miami Beach living in a small rental infested with cockroaches and other crawly things while Nick was playing AAA professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fiercely independent to the end, Marilyn throughout her life enjoyed many things including dancing with a Warner Brothers dance company, teaching ballet and tap, watching her daughter, son and grandson play various high school sports, reminiscing with her granddaughter and great grand kids, participating in bowling leagues, playing in various pinochle and bridge card clubs, playing the piano, riding the “baddest” roller coasters, driving fast cars, golfing, listening to classical music, train trips, downhill skiing, quietly helping others in need and enjoying her many beloved bulldogs. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and served within the Community Service Ministry.

Marilyn held various secretarial positions throughout her life and was a co-owner in G &V Solar and Downtown Athletic Club (now Apple Athletic Club) in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Gale and Ruth Knipp; husband Nicholas Vucovich; daughter Valerie Smalley and sister Jeanie Blubaugh.

She is survived by her son Steve Vucovich and daughter-in-law Kathy; sister Gerry Neely (Ohio), Grandchildren: Michelle Smalley (Pocatello), Brad Vucovich and wife Kosha (Idaho Falls); great grandchildren: Jordin and Nathan Millward (Pocatello).

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 455 West Sunnyside in Idaho Falls, with Pastor Jeff Nate, officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com
